There is a big gap between taking good outdoor photos and creating images that actually look like they belong in a brand campaign.

That is exactly what we are setting out to work on at the next Bison Creek Media Outdoorsman Photo Workshop, happening August 15 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Salt Lake City, Utah, area.

This is a half-day outdoor photography workshop built around three things: big-game hunting, fly fishing, and outdoor brand photography.

Photographers will get the chance to shoot experienced outdoorsmen in real backcountry settings, with scenes built around the kind of moments outdoor brands, outfitters, ranches, and gear companies actually want to see.

For the hunting portion, we will photograph pack-in and pack-out scenes, gear prep, tracking, glassing, field setups, and experienced hunters moving through rugged country. On the water, photographers will capture fly fishing through casting, movement, landing fish, catch-and-release moments, gear details, and the full story of a day on the river.

But this workshop is about more than getting a few good pictures.

We want photographers to leave with images they can actually use to build a stronger portfolio and pitch future clients. Before each shoot, we will walk through the setup, camera settings, framing, and what to look for so you are not left guessing once the action starts.

Attendees will also get hands-on access to outdoor gear from workshop partners including Dark Energy, Fierce Arms, and Burris Optics, with free gear, discounts, and other giveaways available throughout the experience.

Whether you bought your first camera a few weeks ago or have been shooting for years, this workshop is built to give you something new to work with.

You will leave with stronger photos, real field experience, new connections, and a portfolio that looks a little more like the outdoor work you actually want to get paid to shoot.

And that is really the point.
